This Storied Life – Art by Kara-Lynn Petrucci and Kathryn Arrants Petrucci

Location: The Meeting Point, 3464 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130

The body of work exhibited in “This Storied Life” is inspired by nature, color, rhythm, and pattern. This exhibit represents the paintings, pastels, and prints created by Kara-Lynn Petrucci and Kathryn Arrants Petrucci both collaboratively and individually during the course of their relationship. The art is inspired by their experiences, stories, and dreams and their mutual appreciation of aesthetic beauty and vivid color.

One can see the vibrancy of nature echoed everywhere, from the almost supernatural beauty of a sunset over Jamaica Plain, to the feminine “dryad” tree spirit captured in intaglio print. These works honor the unsurpassable glory of the natural world while reflecting a felt sense of the sacred in everyday life. Universal emotions and archetypes of love, anxiety, joy, and nostalgia underlie every piece within this exhibit. The images interweave elements of nature, fantasy, and urban landscapes. Each piece illustrates glimpse of the interconnected tapestry of life.

Kara-Lynn Petrucci studies anthropology and visual art at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Ms. Petrucci is a multi-instrumentalist musician who performs in the band, “Brief Awakening” which she co-founded with her wife Kathryn. Petrucci is singer-songwriter and also plays mandolin, guitar, bass, and drums. Throughout her career, Petrucci has held a number of creative jobs including work as a tattoo artist, a potter and a carpenter in the local 33. She currently resides in West Barnstable, MA where she works as a musician and artist. Kara-Lynn Petrucci is available to create hand painted objects, mural work, personalized instrument cases, and to perform music for any occasion.

Kat Arrants-Petrucci – “As long as I can remember, I have had a passion for art. When I was a little girl I would tell my parents that I was having “an art attack!” and demand that they immediately produce crayons. This early passion has blossomed into a lifetime of creativity and a firm belief in the healing power of art.” In 2006 Ms. Arrants- Petrucci received her BFA in Fine Art and her BA in Art Therapy from Converse College. Then in 2008 she received her MA in Expressive Art Therapy from Lesley University. For the past four years Ms. Arrants-Petrucci practiced as an Expressive Therapist with South Shore Mental Health. She currently resides in West Barnstable, MA with her wife Kara-Lynn where she is a singer-songwriter and keyboard player in their band Brief Awakening. Ms. Arrants-Petrucci is available for commissioned paintings, murals, and pet portraits as well as music for any occasion. Heal Yourself, Change the World: Social Justice Begins at Home!

Title: Heal Yourself, Change the World: Social Justice Begins at Home!
Location: The Meeting Point, 3464 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130
Description: A self-care workshop for activists.

This workshop, the first in a series, is designed for activists, artists, healers, change agents and YOU. You know how to revolutionize, but do you know how to refuel? We all deserve the respect and care that we are creating on behalf of others. The more present and whole we can be, the more effective we will be in our activist work. In a culture where productivity and profit are valued more than community and caring, self-care is a revolutionary act! We will learn ways to make self-care as important as our work through activities and collaborative discussion.

The workshop portion will last from 1:30 to 4pm. Following this, Jess Butler, LicAc, will be available for a community acupuncture session. For more information about community acupuncture, see

To register, or for more information, contact LeLaina Romero at 617-942-1166 or LeLaina.RomeroTMP@gmail.com.
