Melanie Cohn-Hopwood, LICSW is a seasoned clinical social worker with extensive experience working with the LGBTQ communities. She has experience as a mental health clinician and as a clinical supervisor for social work and pastoral counseling interns. Melanie has a bachelor of science in social work from Florida International University and a master of social work from Boston University School of Social Work. She has been involved in professional mental health work for over 18 years. She has experience working with transgender and gender non-conforming individuals and their families, sex and sexuality, kink, poly communities, couples, queer parenting, HIV/AIDS, psychoeducational and support groups, LGBTQ youth programming, social activism, and creative arts.

Melanie’s experience includes providing trainings and presentations to schools, organizations, and community groups on HIV, safer sex, and clinical supervision with HIV peer leaders, as well as other topics. Melanie takes a relational, psychodynamic, feminist approach to therapy. She has experience with brief treatment and mindfulness modalities. Melanie provides specialized work in evaluations and referrals for hormone treatments and gender affirming surgeries. She takes an individualized approach to treatment as she helps clients work towards reaching their personal goals.
