Jess Butler, MAOM

Jess Butler is a skilled, warm and vibrant person who uses acupuncture as an important tool for healing.  Her personal experience with acupuncture began over ten years ago when she sought treatment for her chronic migraines. As a patient, acupuncture’s holistic approach to health resonated strongly with Jess. Through her own treatments she was able to accept the body and its functions as a whole, not disconnected pieces. This realization of the profound and whole connection between body and mind brought Jess to a healthier place and on the 4 year path to becoming a fully Licensed  Acupuncturist.

The idea of treating the whole person requires the healer address the “roots,” the underlying causes, as well as the manifesting symptoms.  This path to healing was reintroduced to Jess when she was a member of the young working class women collective Reflect and Strengthen (R & S). Together they focused on political education, creative expression and an end to the racial disparity within the juvenile justice system. Her membership with R & S reinforced the importance of not just  healing oneself but also healing the community. When healing is done on both levels, transformation is sustainable.

As a licensed acupuncturist, Jess feels she has found the right tool to support community members’ through the healing process both as an individual and as a member of the larger community. She recognizes that for healing to begin, both a safe space and trusted practitioner are necessary to begin the process.
